Season 5 Recap: The season follows Bill and Eric being captured by the Vampire Authority after the disappearance of Nan Flanagan. The two are almost sentenced to death by the Guardian, Roman, before revealing that Russell Edgington is alive and free after being released by a mysterious vampire. With the help of Sookie the team discovers his hiding place and brings him in. Alcide deals with his troubled rise to pack-master, and Terry learns he is death-cursed after committing a terrible crime during the war in Iraq. Meanwhile, Sookie learns that her powers are limited and contemplates having a normal life, just as Tara learns to deal with her newly given life as Pam’s progeny. Jason and Sookie discover their parents were murdered by a vampire and vow to find out who is responsible. Hoyt gets involved with a hate group, then decides to leave for Alaska, just as Andy heads towards life as family man, and Lafayette tries to deal with the powers given to him by Jesus. Russell and his new vampire-companion Steve Newlin, along with Salome and Eric’s vampire sister Nora, redefine the values of the Authority and view humans as nothing more than food: just as Lilith of the Vampire bible wanted. The season ends with the Authority leadership being wiped out during the True Blood crisis, and Bill drinking all of the sacred vial of Lilith in front of Sookie and Eric. He soon meets the “true death”, but shortly after, he “rises from the blood”, as an even more powerful vampire reincarnation of Lilith (“Billith”).

There were a lot of weird turns in Season Five and as I might have said in one of these kind of posts in the not too distant past, if you are interested in the storyline and HAVE NOT seen the up to the date stuff that you should close this window or click back to read another posting. I will spoil some of the S5 occurrences starting now. Alright, they left, so now you had to expect that Tara would be turned to the Vamp side and for those who felt that we dispatched Russell Edgington far too easily will be pleased as punch to have found him back for some sinister action. He gets his just desserts soon enough and I admit that the Ifrit storyline regarding Terry’s past as a marine was unique but maybe a tad too slow in delivering. Personally I also felt that The Vampire Authority was like something out of The X-Men based on the weapons and devices that they were using. It was like watching something only previously thought of in the comics page. We met up with Lilith, the Mother of all Vampires and she is a nasty one, but what did her blood end up doing to Bill Compton as the series closed up? Well, it appeared to make him something right out of a nightmare and that brings us to S6. Whew.

Now having watched the series since it began can say that it has its up and down moments. Somethings take a little too long to play out while others are finished right quick. I wonder where they will go with Bill becoming the physical presence of Lilith on this plane and how it shall affect the other vamps around him and the humans, werewolves and other things that go bump in the night that encounter him. What are your thoughts on the show so far? Still with it or cannot stand it anymore? I am always curious. Fill me in. Oh yes, and here is the main cast and also the guest stars.
