PiercingMetal Thoughts: Whew. It’s clear that if you are a collector of variant covers, that Image Comics is going to break the bank on you because this is the third crop of coolness that helps them celebrate their 25th Anniversary. I love the idea of using the incredible “Spawn” character on these variants but since I am not currently reading these titles myself (barring the ones that are just launching in May of course), I don’t think that I will be picking them up. What I am really hoping for is a series of super-affordable reprints of the companies first launched issues. Perhaps even just charging the price that they came out as back in 1992. If memory serves me that was about $1.95 a copy. What do you readers of the illustrated page think of these variants? Are you going to ask your local comics retailer to secure you a pile of them for your collection? You can remind them this coming Wednesday when you drop in. Don’t forget that Saturday May 6th is “Free Comic Book Day” and a few days ago I pointed out some of the items that you might be interested in so check out THIS POST as well before you head to the shop. Until next time.
