I’ve been showcasing the assorted variant covers that have been coming out from the folks at Image Comics over the last few months as the publisher celebrates its 25th Anniversary. The other day the press went out about the June variant covers which will not only celebrate “Pride Month” but find the proceeds being used for charity. Read on down below and I’ll chime in at the close and if you want to see the previous narratives about assorted variant covers, just hit that tag down below.
The Press Release:
PORTLAND, OR, 05/10/2017 — Image Comics is pleased to reveal the first six of eleven variants planned for June’s 25th anniversary theme—“Pride Month.” The variants will serve to celebrate the LGBTQ community and the progress made by the Gay Liberation Movement in promoting inclusivity and support for all. 100% of the proceeds made from these June Pride variant covers will be donated to Human Rights Campaign.
“We are so thankful for the opportunity to support the LGBTQ community during Pride Month this year by partnering once again with the Human Rights Campaign,” said Eric Stephenson, Publisher at Image Comics. “It’s never been a secret that Image Comics is supportive of creative freedom, but it’s important that we also make it clear that we stand for inclusivity, diversity, and equality, now more than ever. We hope these variants will serve as a positive display of that ongoing commitment.”
Each month of Image’s 25th year will boast a theme for special anniversary variants.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’m going to hold off my larger thoughts on this until I get the rest of the covers to share with you okay? I hope you don’t mind. With that said, I do think that it’s great that Image Comics is going to donate all of the proceeds from the variant cover editions to this charity. They did this before for Women’s History Month so perhaps we can count on them coming to the aid of some animal causes before the year is out. I’m a pet lover so I like seeing the little ones taken care of as well. When I get the other issues, I will be adding them into this post as the dance card is going to be rather loaded with creative to do and that will keep me from doing a brand new post for only a few more cover graphics. Will you readers be helping out the charity efforts by ordering some of these for your collection? Let me know in the comments section below.

Hey, Ken! These look great and I couldn’t agree more that comic publishers supporting equality is important. About the actual comics, I’ve always wanted to read Bitch Planet and get back into TWD. The Grrl Scouts one reminds me of the comic I’m writing right now featuring lesbian girl scouts! I’ve actually looked at Image for publishing my future work and I’d love to eventually work with them. Stuff like this points me even more in their direction.
