Happy 50th To The Rolling Stones (7/12/1962-7/12/2012)

It was fifty years ago today that Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Ian Stewart, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts first performed as The Rolling Stones and I just wanted to use our musical forum to say “Happy Anniversary to one of the greatest Rock and Roll bands of all time”. What a run it has been so far hasn’t it my friends. Such incredibly classic songs that are now imprinted in our respective musical psyche and for those who play any kind of instrument, don’t tell me that you didn’t jam out to a little bit of Stones when you were starting out. To me this was the ultimate bar band, even though they were so much more at the end of the day.

I’ve never managed to catch the Rolling Stones in concert and while some of you might be wondering why I would want to add their sound to the context of PiercingMetal.com concert reports, let’s be serious for a moment….this is a band that so many Metal heroes listened to and aspired to be like so it makes perfect sense. Perhaps when they do some 50th Anniversary touring I will be able to add them to my list of accomplishments. Let’s see what happens. Today the band tours with Jagger, Richards, Watts and Ronnie Wood. They also have Darryl Jones and Chuck Leavell (on bass and keyboards respectively) and while they are cited as contributors they are not referred to as full on band members. Bill Wyman retired from the group in 1993 while Brian Jones has been dead since 1969.

That being said, I again extend kudos and well wishes to the band that still tours today and think that everyone should tip their own hat in thanks for their musical accomplishments.

PS: Perhaps you are somewhat new to the bands sound based on your age bracket and that is alright because we all have to start somewhere. I’ve embedded several Amazon.com links below for you to start building or replacing your old albums with some new stuff. Get your Rock and Roll “Satisfaction” with any one or more of them.
