The Press Release:
HAKEN, one of progressive music’s most exciting bands, are set to return to North America this Feb and March supporting fellow InsideOutMusic artist Devin Townsend on his Empath tour, along with progressive metal band The Contortionist. Haken have added special headlining shows in select cities along the way. These shows will feature the albums ‘Affinity’ and ‘Aquarius’ which celebrates its 10th anniversary.
The band had this to say about the shows:
“‘Affinity’ has been out in the world for some time now and yet there’s still one or two songs on there that we’ve never had the opportunity to play live. We thought we would try and do something very special for our fans just for these select few shows and we realized it would be the perfect opportunity to perform the whole album in full! And what with it being the 10th Anniversary of our debut ‘Aquarius’, we thought we’d go all-out and celebrate that album too! It’s gonna be an epic set, but epic sets are what we love the most!”

In 2018, Haken released their fifth studio album titled ‘Vector’. The album was produced by the band themselves, and recorded & mixed by Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood (Periphery, Devin Townsend Project), with the artwork once again being handled by Blacklake.
Since their inception in 2007, Haken have shown over four previous studio albums, one EP and a live release that they never stand still, merely satisfied to rely on past triumphs. Rather, Haken always look for ways to challenge themselves as musicians and artists, and also to keep the listeners on their collective toes. “We don’t like to make simple music,” laughs vocalist Ross Jennings. “We always aim to defy expectations, and I believe we’ve surpassed what we aimed to achieve with our new album.”
HAKEN are: Ross Jennings, Richard Henshall, Charlie Griffiths, Diego Tejeida, Conner Green and Ray Hearne

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So I am still guilty of only hearing some of what Haken is all about and I’ve never seen them in concert before. Thankfully, we’ve had past contributors offering up some voice about them because I hear so many good things that I need to rectify. My plan is to catch the Devin Townsend run when they hit my own amazing Brooklyn and if I can work this all out I will for sure be on point for every band playing. I will also be in the dining section enjoying some kielbasa and pierogies since the Warsaw is known for this stuff. Sadly these exclusive dates don’t include NYC and with venues like B.B. King’s, Highline Ballroom, Marlint Room, The Studio and Brooklyn Bazaar being now of the past it doesn’t actually surprise me. Oh well. I will close up now since I’ve much to do today but as I do this I wonder what you think about the tour and if you will consider attending. Maybe I will see some of you in Brooklyn. That would be nice.
