It’s without question that “Creem” was a legendary publication and back in the heyday of my own musical youth and following my favorite artist, I was a regular reader of this, “Hit Parader” and “Circus Magazine”. If they had Metal, or anything KISS being printed in the issue you know that I was grabbing a copy. Now this publication has a documentary film care of Greenwich Entertainment and I’ve secured the Official Trailer for you down below along with some premise from the companies YouTube Channel. Take a look.
About The Film: Capturing the messy upheaval of the ’70s just as rock was re-inventing itself, the film explores CREEM Magazine’s humble beginnings in post-riot Detroit, follows its upward trajectory from underground paper to national powerhouse, then bears witness to its imminent demise following the tragic and untimely deaths of its visionary publisher, Barry Kramer, and its most famous alum and genius clown prince, Lester Bangs, a year later. Fifty years after publishing its first issue, “America’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll Magazine” remains a seditious spirit in music and culture. (c/o YouTube)
PiercingMetal Thoughts: So as I’ve mentioned up in the intro commentary, I read this magazine regularly because this was all that the Rock and Metal music fans had along with those other magazines. Like most of the readers of these publications the walls of the personal space and any studio space we had if we were musicians, had pages of said magazines torn out and hanging on the walls. I don’t think I have any of my old issues anymore but there are still some mystery boxes in my storage container so who knows. I do know that I’d like to see this film but don’t see myself doing that in the theater at this time. The virus is too prevalent for me to entertain doing this and I don’t even think any theaters are currently open for you to do that in anyway. I apologize for the lack of 100% knowledge on that but its due to the almost constant news about the virus that some information is getting crossed with others and I just can’t keep up. You can chime in down below with your thoughts on this trailer and tell me if you will eventually consider seeing it. I hope you and yours are safe out there during this obviously perilous time. Please be smart with your adventuring. See you next time.
