It’s been quite a few months since we got our first taste of the brand-new Kobra and The Lotus material with the single “TriggerPulse” and I’ve got to admit that I am a little surprised that we’ve waited so long for the second one. Of course the wait is over as Kobra Paige and the guys have just recently dished out “Gotham” and this caught my attention immediately as I really thought she had connected with the television show of the same name (which is about the beginning days of the man who would become The Bat) but I digress. Let’s give a quick overview of the tune which I’ve played about five times now.
The sense of atmosphere and drama are high in this one right in the beginning and I liked that a lot. It fools you in making you think that this will be a slower track but its not at all. There is a solid and fast paced riff and drum pattern to it while Kobra’s wonderful vocal register slices through the melody. There is a majestic vibe to the chorus that I found myself singing after the second or third listen and of course the head was doing that banging thing that we all tend to do for the good Metal. There is a great lead break by Jasio Kulakowski and Ronny Guitierrez (which I am imaging they are sharing) and for those who love the thunderous drum stuff I give kudos to Marcus Lee who was kicking some time-kicking butt for sure. As I noted, I loved this track and feel that if this one is your first go at the band that it isn’t a bad one at all. The new album by KATL will be called “Prevail I” and it’s the first of two recordings. Each coming care of Napalm Records so do please check this out. I think its hitting in May.
