Comic - Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad Special Edition 1 - 2016

Thanks to the fine folks at DC Comics, lucky comic book collecting fans can get a copy of “Harley Quinn and The Suicide Squad” Special Edition” #1 for absolutely free beginning this week. Be sure to ask your local comic book retailer shop for one when you go to pick up your weekly haul of books and since Wednesday is new comic book day that issue should be available later on today when the stores open. The freebie is to celebrate the upcoming live action appearance of Harley Quinn and the rest of the Suicide Squad in their new film “Suicide Squad” which opens up in theaters everywhere on August 5th and continues the building of the DC Expanded Universe. Actress Margot Robbie plays Harley Quinn and her alter ego Dr. Harleen Quinzel in the film. This will be the third film in this film universe but chronologically will have taken place before the stuff that went down in “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” (unless my research is at fault).

To those in the know, Harley Quinn is quite the “In” character and if you are one of the many who attend the comic conventions like we do, you must have surely lost count with all of the cosplayers that we see dressed up like her. I’ve even seen a Deadpool Harley Quinn which was wild to behold. This first issue is the same comic story that we found available for “Free Comic Book Day” this past May but with a different cover for you to enjoy and of course a title that gears it specifically towards Harley Quinn. Harley Quinn first appeared on “Batman The Animated Series” back in 1992 and is a creation of Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. She was a creation of The Joker and soon became his paramour/stalker/beloved – whatever you like as long as you add absolutely crazy to the mix. Her own DC Comics title just recently finished publication but she will be getting a brand new one in August so don’t cry too much about the other series ending. This issue is the perfect addition to add to your comic box and of course it will be “while supplies last” at those retailers who are even participating in it.
