The 2022 year is coming to an end to make way for the dawn that is 2023 and while many artists are quiet, the Foo Fighters have taken to Facebook to give their audience an update. I’ve added the image itself but also transcribed should it not look right on a mobile device for some reason.
“As we say goodbye to the most difficult and tragic year that our band has ever known, we are reminded of how thankful we are for the people that we love and cherish most, and for the loved ones who are longer with us.
Foo Fighters were formed 27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and a continuation of life and for the past 27 years our fans have built a worldwide community, a devoted support system that has helped us all get through the darkest of times together. A place to share our joy and our pain, our hopes and fears, and to join in a chorus of life together through music. Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were-and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward.
We also know that you, the fans, meant as much to Taylor as he meant to you and we know that when we see you again- and we will soon – He’ll be there in spirit with us every night”.
*** end of statement ***
PiercingMetal Thoughts: While it was great to find a band statement after such a traumatic happening one has to wonder just what they mean by being “a different band going forward”. Does that mean they won’t be launching a search for a drummer to fill Taylor’s shoes or will they play to drumtracks or will Grohl sit on the kit once again for the duration. So many possibilities unless they only meant this in the theoretical sense. Either way I am glad they will be continuing on because their music does mean a lot to people. As expected I will be following as much about the band and their plans for the New Year when I learn something was put out there and merits sharing. That being said we do wish the band the very best as the loss of drummer Taylor Hawkins from their number cannot be something easy to come to terms with or move on from. Closing up this statement announcement I do wish those out there in the readership a very positive and healthy New Year 2023. See you here again soon.
