Greetings Readers and welcome back to the continuing presentations from the 2019 New York Comic Con. I’m now up to Day Two of the offerings but if you missed any of the Day One stuff you are so going to want to click HERE first to enjoy all of the chapters that preceded this one. I say this since I tend to refer back to pieces across the journey and I don’t want you to fall behind. Go ahead and look, I’ll wait – welcome back 🙂 So after Day One ended, I headed up to Paul Booth’s Last Rites Gallery to see the unveiling of a brand new graphic novel that is based on story ideas from Black Veil Brides singer Andy Black. Check out that summary by clicking THIS LINK.
To start off my day, I hit a press conference, panel or whatever that was called “From The Stage To The Page” and this was going to feature notable musical talent who have all worked on the comic book medium. Among these artists are Steve Aoki, Andy Black, Lights and the legendary Darryl McDaniels (aka DMC). Here are a few visuals from the panel, I did not record anything because I don’t think that ReedPOP likes that stuff. Don’t want to mess with the organizers after all.
The panel was interesting and I think my two favorite speakers were Aoki and McDaniels. Aoki for his wealth of diverse background on the melding of music into the format of his stories and DMC for just how fun he was up there. I swear he could have run the panel himself and no one would have complained.
I’m going to have to look into the graphic novels by Lights and Aoki. I’ve perused the DMC one and Black’s doesn’t hit the racks until sometime next Spring so that will come when it comes. Now its back into the fray that is a Friday almost noon at NYCC. There are a lot of cosplayers in this one so if you see anyone you know please share the post link with them.
Since I knew he was going to be at the table, I swung down to the DMC station to get a few more snaps.
He might be one of Rap’s forefathers but he is also The King Of Rock, there is no higher, you sucker MC’s can call him sire…..
Here is a favorite Cosplay of mine. A female Thanos. I referred to her as Thanette. She smiled but then snapped her fingers and I was transported to another section of the convention center.
This is Miss Shantel Knight who is better know as Zombaebby. She was hanging out at the Sonic Boom Box booth and they always have some amazing notable cosplayers in attendance.
This awesome Wonder Woman cosplayer is none other than Miss Becka Noel. We’ve met her a number of times over the conventions and the last time we saw her was when she helped out the ReedPOP NYCC booth at “The Book Con”. Check out that article on my other website by clicking HERE. I am nothing if not a shameless self-promoter.
Let’s swing over to the Z2 Comics booth because Andy Black was going to be stopping by over there and I didn’t want to miss that.
Our long time convention friend Allison and her Rock Love jewelry booth. She was quite proud of this mirror so we indulged her.
Now here is a comic book power couple, it’s Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Connor.
This is Simon and he is a friend of Piggy’s. We mentioned Piggy was dealing with some medical issues this convention so could not partake. We are all pulling for the best of health in the Power Pup and we think that Simon did a great job of greeting the fans.
At the Heave Metal booth, writer Llexi Leon was there and he is responsible for the recent “Iron Maiden Legacy” comic book series. Fans could purchase the individual issues and a collected edition if they wanted.
Then there was Dan Fogler, an actor who you might recognize from that little series called “The Walking Dead”.
Hey look its Miss Allie Z. once again and I swear that this woman is a chameleon.
Steve Aoki was signing copies of his “Neon Future” comic book. I could hardly wait to sit and read my copy.
So that is going to bring me to the end of our first chapter but don’t worry you know that I have some more to share with you. Before you head onto the next thing that interests you on the web, I encourage you to click through to some of the websites that are linked below so you can learn more about the people and companies showcased in this chapter. I also hope that you’ll come lend some love to our Official Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts because I’d love for you to be along for the adventures as they happen. See you next time.
