Alright Punkers, I am back with the final chapter of my exploration of the “Hey! Ho! Let’s Go: Ramones and the Birth Of Punk” exhibit that is currently on display at the Queens Museum. As you’ve seen in the previous two installments, I have been very thorough and am bringing you pretty much everything since a lot of our readers are no where near NYC and cannot come to see this for themselves. I’m picking up where I left off and that is with those European tour posters. Ready? “1, 2, 3, 4!!!”
In 2002 the surviving members of the Ramones would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Sadly Joey had passed away the year before. Dee Dee would be the next to leave us only a few months after the induction but his was a heroin overdose.
These great posters in the viewing room were done by Sheperd Fairy so let’s take a closer look.
This final room was the place where a giant screen was showing live clips of the band. It was comfortable and air conditioned and the footage was vintage. Currently playing when I was in there was a show from the Rainbow from 1977. I have to find that on DVD or Blu-ray if its on that medium. It was really great footage.
Just a final second glimpse of a couple of the rooms. As I took it all in I was both inspired by their greatness while at the same time feeling some levels of sadness since all of the original Ramones are no longer with us but at least we have Marky.
Well my friends that brings me to the end of this adventure and I thank you for sticking with me since there were so many photos to process. So like I said this exhibit will run for one more month (July 2016) and it will close on the 31st. If you’ve ever been a fan of the bands body of work or were a musician that played their tunes and can easily do so – get to this exhibit. It’s only about $8 to get into the museum or free if you have one of those NYC ID cards. As you saw in these three narratives there is a lot to check out so you’ll want to arrive early so you’re not rushed. Once I finished I wandered around the rest of the place for some PiercingKen.com posting needs and I suggest you do the same since you are there. This museum is also right near the iconic “Unisphere”. Remember if you want to see some slightly different images from this exhibit on the Official Instagram of our outlet they can be found right HERE.
Update: In 2021 we created a video photo gallery of this adventure and uploaded it to our Official YouTube Channel. We ask that readers “like” the video and subscribe to our Channel to show support. Thanks in advance.
