With Halloween over, its time for you readers to stockpile any change that you secured while trick or treating and get over to the comic store to check out these offerings from DC Comics. As you know, we’ve been trying to do these posts on a monthly basis for the companies that we are regularly sinking our teeth into. That said here are the November titles that are beginning or are special editions for the month. I’ve copies some press information and cover art and then will toss you my thoughts at the closing. See you shortly.

BATMAN ‘66: THE LOST EPISODE #1

During the original Batman television series run, legendary science-fiction writer Harlan Ellison turned in an outline for a story that would have introduced Two-Face. The story never made it to air, and Two-Face never entered the TV show’s Rogues Gallery. Now, “The Two-Way Crimes of Two-Face” is adapted to comics by two comic book legends: writer Len Wein and artist José Luis Garcia-Lopez. Also included in this special edition are Ellison’s original prose story outline and the complete, original pencils by Garcia-Lopez.

Story by HARLAN ELLISON; Script by LEN WEIN; Art by JOSE LUIS GARCIA-LOPEZ and JOE PRADO

Comic - Gotham By Midnight 1 - 2014

Gotham By Midnight: A horror series featuring Detective Jim Corrigan (Spectre) as part of “The Midnight Shift”, a division of the Gotham City Police Department which focuses on supernatural occurrences.

Writers: Ray Fawkes; Artist: Ben Templesmith

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Let me start with the easiest one with the reprinting of the “Batman Year One” title. This is one of those “must have” comics in your collection and while getting a nice fresh traditional copy for your comic boxes, I think that diehards are going to be better served by a trade paperback. I’m loving the “Batman ’66” title because I grew up on the original show and think that this is done properly. With the television show finally being released any time soon this issue is going to be something that collectors will want to add to their collection. I know that I am getting a copy. Closing up there is the “Gotham By Midnight” and I have always enjoyed The Spectre so it will be great to see him back in action in this fashion. Perhaps we shall find this title crossing over with the “Justice League Dark” world of players. Sounds like a win win situation to me. So what do you readers think of these few offerings? Do any interest you or are you sitting these ones out? Let me know in the comments because I have left them open for you to do so. Now back to the Metal postings but don’t worry, more comic stuff will be coming soon enough.
