Another day, another tour announcement but that’s great since there is nothing I like more that seeing the vibrant live music scene thriving. With that said here is some news about a return by Cult Of Luna and Julie Christmas supporting the album “Mariner”. The poster, press and dates come care of their peeps and I’ll close out with some editorial thoughts. Here we go.
The Press Release:
Sweden’s post-metal powerhouse Cult of Luna and boundary-smashing American vocalist Julie Christmas announce plans to bring their Grammy-nominated collaboration Mariner to North American shores for a very limited live run in August: “the first and last time Mariner will be performed in North America.” Christmas, whose ethereal and brutal vocals first grabbed the underground’s throat via her work in the bands Made Out of Babies and Battle of Mice, states: “We never thought Mariner was going to be played live. After seeing so many far-traveling US brothers and sisters at the shows we played across Europe, we are excited to have a chance to roar in America. We don’t care about your color, who you snuggle with, or what you have in your back pocket. I guess what I’m trying to say is: DEAR AMERICA. WE ARE COMING. BE THERE, OR WE’LL KILL YOU.”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Alright so I’m really not up on the Cult Of Luna at all and super behind in the recent musical adventures of Christmas. I’m admitting this to you because as I pen this latest tour announcement I am actually listening to “Mariner” and am loving every second of it. Really powerful and Atmospheric stuff that is clearly meant to be heard in the live sense. I’m going to try and hit the NYC show at the Gramercy because by this time Webster Hall will have temporarily shut its doors to do the renovations and that leaves NYC with three less venues to enjoy shows at for a healthy timeframe. All of these shows with the exception of the 8/20 one will be supported by Dalek and Whores. So what do you readers think of this one? Is it something that you think is a must experience sort of gig? Considering the cult popularity of the performers I can see this run selling out quick. Let me know what you think down in the comments below. Especially if you caught them before at some point. Thanks.
