Though I’ve never played a single moment of the mega-popular video game that bear’s the same name, I admit that I was not so surprised to learn that a film based on the property was heading our way towards the end of the year. Let’s face it, we’ve seen “Battleship” come to the big screen along with scores of other video game characters in a big budget sillyness called “Pixels”. So knowing that a fighting video game becoming an action film is no surprise at all. Check out the first trailer from this film below.

The Premise:
Career criminal Callum Lynch is rescued from his own execution by Abstergo Industries, the modern-day incarnation of the Templar Order. He is forced to participate in the Animus Project and relive the memories of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, an Assassin in the time of the Spanish Inquisition. As Lynch continues to experience Aguilar’s memories, he begins to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to confront the Templars—age-old enemies of the Assassins—in the present day.

The Cast:
Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch and Aguilar de Nerha
Marion Cotillard as Sophia Rikkin
Jeremy Irons as Alan Rikkin
Brendan Gleeson as Callum Lynch’s father
Michael K. Williams as Moussa and Baptiste
Ariane Labed portrays Maria
Matias Varela appears as Emir and Yusuf
Denis Ménochet also appears as the head of Abstergo security

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Since I like Fassbender (who we just saw as Magneto once again in the latest X-Men film, I think I might enjoy this one but its too far away to know whether or not I will be seeing it in the theater. I generally save that disclosure to my “Opening” posts. It does look action packed and the premise seems interesting enough so let’s see what happens when the time comes. What do you readers think of the first official trailer for “Assassin’s Creed”? Let me know in the comments section below.
