The Press Release:
Long Live the King! This February, Marvel is celebrating Wakanda Forever and the reign of King T’Challa by offering a FREE digital bundle of the following five Black Panther comics for a limited time. Relive some of the most iconic and thrilling BLACK PANTHER stories from Marvel’s most acclaimed creators, including Ta-Nehisi Coates, Nnedi Okorafor, Roxane Gay, Yona Harvey, Reginald Hudlin, John Romita Jr., and more!
About The Issue: The world fell in love with her in the movie. Now, the Black Panther’s techno-genius sister launches her own adventures — written by best-selling Afrofuturist author Nnedi Okorafor and drawn by Eisner-nominated artist Leonardo Romero! The Black Panther has disappeared, lost on a mission in space. And in his absence, everyone’s looking at the next in line for the throne. But Shuri is happiest in a lab, surrounded by gadgets of her own creation. She’d rather be testing gauntlets than throwing them. But a nation without a leader is a vulnerable one — and Shuri may have to choose between Wakanda’s welfare and her own.
About The Issue: A bold new direction for the Black Panther! For years, T’Challa has fought off invaders from his homeland, protecting Wakanda from everything from meddling governments to long-lost gods. Now, he will discover that Wakanda is much bigger than he ever dreamed…Across the vast Multiverse lies an empire founded in T’Challa’s name. Readers caught a glimpse of it in MARVEL LEGACY #1. Now find out the truth behind the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda! Ta-Nehisi Coates welcomes aboard fan-favorite artist Daniel Acuña for a Black Panther story unlike any other!
MARVEL’S BLACK PANTHER PRELUDE #1 (2017)
About The Issue: Wakanda. The most technologically advanced nation in the world—and protected by the mighty BLACK PANTHER! Learn how T’CHALLA became the legendary hero of Wakanda in this ALL-NEW, NEVER-BEFORE-TOLD tale set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! See how the mantle was passed to the future king, in a time when super heroes were just emerging in the larger world before this fall’s BLACK PANTHER film hits theaters!
About The Issue: “Who Is the Black Panther?” Part 1 of 6. The Black Panther’s origin is retold in a cinematic scope with social satire and all-out action that’s sure to excite true believers and the hip hop faithful.
BLACK PANTHER: WORLD OF WAKANDA #1 (2016)
About The Issue: “YOU DESERVED SO MUCH MORE, LITTLE FLOWER. YOU DESERVED A WAKANDA THAT CHERISHED YOU.” Writer ROXANE GAY (Bad Feminst, Hunger) spins a Wakandan love story — its tenderness matched only by its brutality. You know them now as The Midnight Angels, but in this story they are just Ayo and Aneka, young women recruited to become Dora Milaje, an elite task force trained to protect the crown at all costs. What happens when your nation needs your hearts and minds, but you already gave them to each other? Illustrated by industry veteran ALITHA E. MARTINEZ (Iron Man, Black Panther). And in a special backup story, acclaimed poet YONA HARVEY (Hemming the Water) explores the true origins of The People’s mysterious leader Zenzi. Black Panther thinks he knows who Zenzi is and how she got her powers, but he only knows part of the story… Illustrated by rising star AFUA RICHARDSON (Genius).

PiercingMetal Thoughts: One of my favorite sayings is “if it’s free it’s for me” and what is better than some free digital comics to give you some escape while making your trek to work or school (well, as long as you are not driving I mean). I just love the Marvel Digital shop and of course ComiXology where you can load up your preferred device with some wonderful stories of some incredible characters. Now, I am an Old School collector so this as a thing is still a little weird to me, but I do always recommend the model to those who I see letting their little ones play with a tablet and mobile phone. Especially when it comes to free issues. The film “Black Panther” has been winning some of the awards shows these last few weeks and its also up for an Academy Award so let’s keep our fingers crossed for it. It would blow a lot of peoples minds if it won and let’s face it, the film was great and very well done. I won’t say much more on this since the offer is for a limited time only and I don’t want to find you missing out while you listen to me rambling on and on incessantly. What are your thoughts about the digital servicing of comic book titles and will you be downloading these five free “Black Panther” issues. Chime in down below.
