Fans of the Star Trek franchise will be excited to know that the series “Star Trek: Discovery” will be getting itself a third season. What they might not like all that much is that they will need a subscription to CBS All Access to enjoy it. The trailer for the new season just recently dropped and I present it for your consumption down below along with some other details. Take a look.

The Premise: Beginning roughly ten years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series, the show sees the Klingon houses become united in a war with the United Federation of Planets that heavily involves the crew of the USS Discovery (NCC-1031). In the second season, after the war has ended, Discovery investigates seven mysterious signals and a strange figure known as the “Red Angel”. This conflict ends with the Discovery travelling to the 32nd century, more than 900 years into their future.

The Cast and Characters:
Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham
Doug Jones as Saru
Shazad Latif as Voq/Ash Tyler
Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets
Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So while I admit that this upcoming season looks rather interesting, I have to say that since I am NOT a subscriber to the CBS All Access service that I will not be catching it. I signed up for a free month back when they offered one so I could watch “Star Trek: Picard” and I greatly enjoyed that but I didn’t manage to make it past more than two episodes of this series first season. It wasn’t because I didn’t enjoy it, it was just a matter of time to get to all the things I had going on at the time. My only issue with the series has been that since it precedes the classic series we all know and love, that the technology was so far advanced from it that I didn’t really like that aspect. Otherwise it was fine and seemed to be well executed. I know a lot of our readers are Trekkies and will be looking forward to this one and those are the folks that I ask what they thought about this trailer. Please chime in down below and if any others are now compelled to sign up for the service as result of this you can do the same. See you next time around and remember that the third season will begin streaming on 10/15 and be done episodically.
