Everyone has a story, some get told, some never get told. One of the long overdue stories that needed to be told is the history of Black Sabbath as musicians. There has not been a really thorough chronicling of Black Sabbath’s influential career based on the music and the band. Until now, with Black Sabbath Doom Let Loose An Illustrated History by Martin Popoff
“Doom Let Loose” is a detailed and an easily digestible read, taking you on a chronological journey through Black Sabbath’s entire career and musical history. Expertly crafted using a combination of storytelling and years of material compiled from Popoff’s previously unpublished interviews with all the original band members. Giving the book interesting and sometimes differing perspectives. Also included are interviews from other musicians who have been a part of the bands history. Easily the most comprehensive, detailed as well as entertaining books on Sabbath. Not that there are really all that many books on Sabbath out there, but Popoff’s rises to the top of the heap.
“Doom Let Loose” is generously spiced throughout with rare photographs, poster art, memorabilia, 45 and album cover art from around the world. Doom Let Loose is not a tour story and antics book. It is a serious and thorough acknowledgment of Black Sabbath’s musical prowess and influence. I think Doom Let Loose is a must for Sabbath fans wanting to know more about the band and it’s music. In fact all fans of rock literature should check this out.
