“Berzerkus Tour Sampler” by Black Label Society

Artist: Black Label Society
Title: “Berzerkus Tour Sampler”
Label: Eagle Records
Release Date: 11/9/2010
Genre: Heavy Metal

Zakk Wylde and the rest of his merry men in Black Label Society are in the middle of what they are calling the “Black Label Berzerkus” Tour and these gigs find both Clutch and Children Of Bodom offering up support for those Metal loving Chapter members everywhere. This exclusive MP3 downloadable “Greatest Hits” release celebrates the music of Zakk and BLS by giving you twenty six tracks that are sure to set your music player and computer on fire. The material all hails from the guitarist’s original Spitfire Records (now released by Eagle Records) catalog and does not touch upon his recently released “Order Of The Black” since that came out on E1 Entertainment. It’s alright though since these molten Metal MP3’s will surely send you off to purchase a copy of his new stuff so you are better equipped to enjoy one of the shows. The album does a good job of presenting a little bit of everything from Zakk’s catalog and managed to bring out many of my own favorites as well. We get the interesting acoustic version of “Stillborn” and of course the tribute to Dimebag Darrell “In This River” along with the get the crowd going “Fire It Up” and original version of “Stillborn” which remains my own main tune from the man. Those interested in hearing Zakk’s more Country fried style will enjoy “Spoke In The Wheel” while those that insist on a head smashing will lean more toward “Mother Mary”. This downloadable release is actually the perfect place for a new listener to start their own BLS journey and let them see if they are a band that they would like to follow going forward for a number of reasons.

The main reason is that if this gets purchased on the 11/10/10 date its available for only $.69 which means the fans pay just about $02.5 cents per track. The second reason is that those who might miss the special sale will still get this for around ten bucks which is still not bad considering there is a whole lot of Metal to load up your data centers with. Either way you are getting your money’s worth and in this dismal economy that is never a bad thing. As a casual fan of Zakk’s Black Label Society work I had to say that I enjoyed this one very much and applaud them making it available for such an amazing price. This follows a similar release by Uncle Ted Nugent who delivered a comprehensive “Best Of” for $.99 cents on the Fourth Of July. It looks like this kind of idea is picking up some steam and it leaves me wondering who might be next.
