“Bauhaus always sought to conjure something more esoteric and enigmatic — ‘She’s in Parties,’ ‘Dark Entries,’ ‘Kick in the Eye,’ ‘All We Ever Wanted Was Everything,’ ‘Slice of Life,’ and even the cover of ‘Ziggy Stardust’ (one of the best cover songs of all time) are all uniquely theirs — dark but never actually depressing; experimental but accessible as well; seductive and sonically sublime, whether referencing horrors, matters of the heart or stuff nobody gets but them. Interpersonal relationships can inform an artist’s music but they don’t necessarily have to.”

“Goth rock pioneers Bauhaus delivered a chilling rendition of their debut single, ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ at their first live show in 13 years Sunday. The gig took place at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, capturing the band in fine form as they effortlessly moved from the song’s abstract, spine-tingling intro into its eerily serene guitar jangle. Frontman Peter Murphy expertly navigated the song’s steady build as well, unleashing a mighty, reverb-soaked howl toward the end as he sang, ‘Oh Bela, Bela’s undead’.” – ROLLING STONE

“Anticipation was electric for their return — a line stretched around the block before doors, a queue that only rivaled that to the merch table — and fans came out dressed to the nines. The band did not disappoint.”

“Bauhaus has always been a gutsy band…Yes, the songs live on. So does the band. In our hearts and in our minds and in our heroes. And on Sunset Boulevard this fateful November night it became apparent that both song and band shall continue to live on long after you and I are gone, baby, gone.” – FLAUNT

“As the dust settled, I took a moment to soak in what I had just witnessed and walked back to my car speechless. This show was brilliant on so many levels and highlighted the sheer genius of Daniel Ash, Peter Murphy, Kevin Haskins, and David J. For fans in attendance, the performance on Sunday night was magic of a type that won’t be replicated any time soon… one unbelievable show.” – THE VINYL DISTRICT

“Those who expected to see an iconic band were not disappointed… it was clear that Bauhaus were back with a vengeance.” – BUZZBANDS.LA

“Beautiful, powerful, and engaging.” – HIGHWIRE DAZE

“… as marvelous as ever.” – LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Historically speaking, I’ve never really followed the music of Bauhaus despite recognizing their impact on modern music. Though it’s likely going to be difficult to secure tickets with one of the shows being the only East Coast show for the time being, I will do my best to be a part of the spectacle and help celebrate their legendary status. What do you readers think about this announcement? Did you go to Los Angeles when the group reformed and did a number of shows over there? Chime in down below with your thoughts and I will see you next time.
