Artist: Crash Kelly Title: Penny Pills Label: Liquor and Poker Release: January 25, 2005 Genre: Glam / Rock Rating: 8/10
When rock suddenly becomes more like background noise and not a life changing experience, along comes Crash Kelly to the rescue. A total return to a healthy mix of 70s glitter rock and classic arena rock with all the attitude, twin guitars, catchy lyrics and style – a rock record was born. Crash Kelly originally formed by Sean Kelly (ex – Robin Black) and co-founder Allister Thompson (ex. Sleepwalker’s Union), started their quest to make rock once again more than just music, but an experience in 2002. Besides Sean (lead guitar and vocals) and Allister (rhythm guitar and vocals), you also have Jordan Michael Stewart (bass and vocals) and Kevin Taylor (ex – Robin Black, drums and vocals). When brought together you have yourself a solid rock record from start to finish. Continue reading “Penny Pills” by Crash Kelly→

Artist: Bubble Title: “Rock n’ Roll Hell” Label: Basement Boy Records Release Date: 2004 Genre: Glitter/Garage Punk Rating: 9/10
This is the third album release from Bubble, who originally started out as a two piece with Bam (ex – Wildhearts, Dogs D’amour) and Share Pedersen (ex – Vixen, Contraband) in 1997. For this album “Rock n’ Roll Hell” Bam and Share have teamed up with Brian Wong to create a crazy combo of catchy melodies, loud guitars and in-your-face punk attitude. The songs on this album can come off as poppy, but mixed with the raspy vocals of Share and her killer guitar, you suddenly find yourself taken away to a dirty rock club, with cheap booze, decadence, and fist pumping rock n’ roll. Artist: Hanoi Rocks Title: “Another Hostile Takeover” Label: Demolition Records Release Date: 7/5/2005 Genre: Rock/Glam Rating: 7/10
Hanoi Rocks hailing from Finland, might have changed the face of rock n’ roll by their grueling tour schedule and unique sound, but they are still creating music today with their current release “Another Hostile Takeover”. This album draws from Hanoi’s classic 80’s sound mixed with straight up hard rock. Not an instant attention grabber when given a first listen, but eventually it grows on you during your second, third and fourth go around. Not a total departure from the previous “Twelve Shots On The Rocks” this album is a mixed bag. On this album the band itself went through a line up change with a new bass and guitar player which has also added to the change of sound. Unfortunately due to the tour schedule Nasty Suicide left to pursue other interests and the bass player, Timpa left as well. On this album Conny Bloom was added on lead and rhythm guitar and Andy “A.C.” Christell took over for bass and backing vocals. Continue reading “Another Hostile Takeover” by Hanoi Rocks→
