I’m taking a breather from posting all of the Metallica videos from the forthcoming album to attend to some other Metal business because while this is happening there are new tours being announced and one of them is outlining the US touring plans of those Canucks of Metal – Anvil. The full press release and the dates and poster are below. I’ll close out with some additional thoughts as well. Here we go.
The Press Release:
Hot on the heels of their latest release “Anvil is Anvil” Canadian Metal heroes ANVIL are set to return the road in the US in March of 2017. The tour kicks off March 2nd in Boston, MA and will run through April 9th in Cleveland, OH. Support on the tour will come from Night Demon and Graveshadow. A complete list of dates can be found below.
The band cannot wait to hit the States again: “ANVIL does America. The vibrator king returns. Also looking forward to Golden Corral”,
says guitarist/vocalist Lips. Robb Reiner added, “Anvil is Anvil and we play fuckin heavy metal..looking forward to the return and smashing all the pounders!!!” The new album “Anvil Is Anvil” was released in February 2016 through SPV/Steamhammer as a digipak version (+1 bonus track and poster), 2LP gatefold clear version and download. The album can be streamed and Spotify, Amazon and iTunes.
“Anvil is Anvil!” A self-confident statement. A band philosophy. And what’s more: a life motto. Anvil is Anvil, that’s the title of their latest album. And the name says it all: an unambiguous, uncompromising recording, typical of this band. At the same time it’s fresh, occasionally surprising and generally exciting through and through. A stalwart metal manifesto by a band who stand for authenticity and credibility like few others in this fast-lived business. “We’re sometimes criticised for never changing,” guitarist and vocalist Lips Kudlow explains. “But why should we change something we’re renowned for? Isn’t it much more important to stay faithful to yourself? To do what you do best? The idea behind our latest album is: we are
what we are, and that’s how it’s going to stay!”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve seen Anvil quite a few times over the years and its always a fun Metal experience. Speaking personally, I go back to when “Metal On Metal” was a new LP to purchase in the record store and its remained one of my very favorite albums based on its tunes. In concert Lips is very engaging to the fans that come from far and wide to see him play and that Robb Reiner is one of the best skin pounders in the business. If you are a drummer you owe it to yourself to see him deliver the goods at least once in your life. Hopefully I will see many familiar faces at The Studio at Webster Hall which is our regional appearance. I’m looking forward to seeing Night Demon again and am curious about Graveshadow. What do you readers think of this new tour information? Will you be hitting one of the shows? Let me know in the comments below.
