AMC’s “The Walking Dead” will return in the coming weeks with the second half of the 10th season. Then around October, the 11th and final season will begin but we still have time for that. Now it’s time to enjoy a trailer for the mid-season episodes and as you will see some new menaces are to be contended with. Down below I’ve added the premise and a 10th first half recap. There will be spoilers there but the pandemic should have given you plenty of time to be up to speed lets go.

The Premise: The Walking Dead takes place after the onset of a worldwide zombie apocalypse. The zombies, colloquially referred to as “walkers”, shamble towards living humans and other creatures to eat them; they are attracted to noise, such as gunshots, and to different scents, e.g. humans. Although it initially seems that only humans that are bitten or scratched by walkers can turn into other walkers, it is revealed early in the series that all living humans carry the pathogen responsible for the mutation. The mutation is activated after the death of the pathogen’s host, and the only way to permanently kill a walker is to damage its brain or destroy the body, such as by cremating it.

Season 10 Refresher: Alpha begins breaking down the communities by sabotaging them with seemingly random walker attacks. Under Carol’s orders, Negan infiltrates the Whisperers and assassinates Alpha. Her right-hand man Beta takes command of the Whisperers, but he and the horde are defeated by the survivors. Eugene leads a group to West Virginia to meet a new group of survivors. Meanwhile, Michonne travels north to search for Rick after finding evidence he survived his apparent death.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: For the last few seasons I had felt that the series was treading water but the last couple were absolutely riveting and made me a fan again. As many of you know from our posts, the comic book series was ended by creator Kirkman who seemed to have grown tired of the series taking liberties with his creation. Characters that were in the comic book were not on the show and vice versa and a number of outcomes didn’t happen in the series but did on the show but since I don’t want to spoil any reading for you I will be quiet and leave that to your own discovery. I am looking forward to the limited episodes and think this trailer sets it all up nicely. What do you readers think? Chime in down below in the comments section. See you next time.
