This announcement comes as a complete and utter shock to me and I am sure so many of you readers as well; Sadly, actor Chadwick Boseman who many know from his amazing portrayal of Black Panther for Marvel Studios has died from cancer. His family statement is below the photo by Sam Jones. Read on.

The Statement:
It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.
A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.
He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: The news of Chadwick’s passing is heartbreaking and comes not long after we discussed the passing of drummer Frankie Banali (also of cancer). I didn’t know much about him as an actor until his appearance in the Marvel Studios films because those are really the only things that I tune in to nowadays. I did love what he brought to the table in the role of Black Panther and was looking forward to years more adventures with him shouting “Wakanda Forever”. Back in April, the reporters at TMZ had shared a photo of Mr. Boseman that showed him looking very frail and gaunt and the questions were rampant about what was going on but they never followed up on this. Clearly this was from the ravages of this terrible disease when looking back on that report in the rear view mirror. 2020 sure has been a year full of terrible happenings and we’ve got three more months left so hold onto your hats my friends. As we close this memorial announcement we extend the deepest of sympathies to Mr. Boseman’s family, friends and his worldwide group of fans. Thank you for the gifts you gave us with your talents. You brought a character to life that so many never thought they would ever see and your passing hurts very much. May you Rest In Peace…
Mr. Boseman leveled the playing field while fighting for his life… That’s heroism. I’ll remember the good times, the laughter, and the way he changed the game… #chadwickforever @chadwickboseman pic.twitter.com/IFfCSmLrhR

I’m absolutely devastated. This is beyond heartbreaking.
Chadwick was special. A true original. He was a deeply committed and constantly curious artist. He had so much amazing work still left to create. I’m endlessly grateful for our friendship. Rest in power, King💙 pic.twitter.com/oBERXlw66Z
