The upcoming 2020 film “The King’s Man” serves as a prequel to the pair of “Kingsman” films from a few years ago and those films were based on an Image Comics series by Mark Millar. With our penchant for discussing films, and especially those related to the comic book industry it made sense to include this in our series of Pop Culture narratives. The first teaser clip for this film was released a few short days ago, so check that out and then review the light premise, casting and enjoy a promotional poster as well. Have at it.
The Premise:
As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man and his protégé must race against time to stop them.

Rhys Ifans as Grigori Rasputin
Matthew Goode as Tristan

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Now before I get into my usual editorial closing notes, I should admit that not only did I miss the first two films in the series, but I missed the boat on the comic book series as well. With this being the case I will likely be passing on this film unless I find the time to get to the earlier films or read the comic book series. This opens many months from now so there is time for me to do that and I might be able to snag an affordable collected edition of the comics at the upcoming New York Comic Con which I hope to attend provided there isn’t a snag with the media request. What about you readers? Are you up on this one and what do you think of their doing a prequel as opposed to a continuation? Feel free to share your thoughts with the readership in the comments section below.
