Suffice it to say, a LOT has happened since I shared the first trailer for the 20th Century Fox feature “Dark Phoenix” with the main thing being that the deal by Disney to own the studio was given the nod and the process has begun on the legal side. In time, the X-Men and Fantastic Four licenses will be fully under Disney control for future features. Also, Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” has won all sorts of awards and the world eagerly awaits both “Captain Marvel” and “Avengers: Endgame” which will both be released before this film hits the theaters. For those who didn’t know the news, “Dark Phoenix” was pushed back a few months and will now be released in June instead of its originally scheduled February. Earlier today a second trailer was released to the public and I’ve embedded it for you all to enjoy and even provided some casting and another teaser poster. Let’s take a look shall we.
The Premise: After the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite – not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: If you feel like re-watching the first trailer just click HERE before we continue along. It’s slightly different and I’ve shared a different poster in there. So about this trailer. I will say that it really looks exciting and will be a bit of an “endgame” for the Fox X-Men as we have come to know them. I don’t really think that “New Mutants” will ever be released and while I felt that this trailer looks great, we felt the same way about “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” and “Justice League” and each of those were a big disappointment. I’m still planning on seeing it but only after I hear some opinion from trusted sources and definitely at a discount matinee price. What about you readers?
