The Details: Saigon Kick were one of my favorite groups of the nineties from the moment that I first heard their self-titled debut release. They had an interesting sound that spoke to me more than some of the other bands who were making an appearance around the same time and while I kept up with their releases I never ever saw a single live performance. With this being the case I was excited to learn of the bands reunion with its original members and regional live shows and to make it all the more awesome, the great folks at Excess DB Entertainment are letting me put some lucky PiercingMetal fans into the show. The Scoop: Singer Otep Shamaya and her Art-House Metal meets Nu-Metal band that goes under her name have been releasing albums since 2000 to the delight of her most ardent fans. The group has been signed to Victory Records for the last few years and most recently released their first ever live album “Sounds Like Armageddon” and “Hydra” the latter of which Shamaya has been quoted citing as being the bands final recording. Only time will tell if this will actually be the case. That being said, it’s awesome to be able to offer this contest to the PiercingMetal readers in conjunction with the folks at Excess DB Entertainent. This Easter Sunday Slaughter will also feature One Eyed Doll, The Things They Carried and more. Read on how to participate.

Otherwise in Concert (8/9/2012)

I was very new to the band Otherwise and was supposed to catch them as an opener for Lacuna Coil but due to an unfortunate circumstance the day of the show this was not meant to be.  Despite this hiccup I would instead be the only member of press in attendance at a private preview of their material when the guys dropped by the EMI Music Publishing offices.   For those who might not know this little fact, all the Century Media Records and Nuclear Blast Records are distributed by EMI.  This was cool for sure but I needed to see the band live and in the electrified sense because that is what they are all about.  Lucky for me they had set up a show over at The Studio at Webster Hall and brought along Red Line Chemistry and Janus as support.  There were a couple of other bands on the bill but I was not able to enjoy them based on the timing of the night.  Studio gigs tend to start as early as 6pm, and there was no way that I could get to that.  Clicking the logo below will take you over to the full concert review and photo galleries but then do come back to the blog posting as I have some side moments and visuals that are only being presented in this space.

Acey Slade & The Dark Party in Concert (6/15/2012)

I’ve been a fan of the creative force of music known as Acey Slade for a few years now and since I first started using the website to report on his adventures have watched him perform with Wednesday 13, heard him rock the socks with Trashlight Vision and now continue to surprise his fans with The Dark Party. Sadly its been awhile since I had been been able to catch him perform which made this evenings performance at The Studio in Webster Hall something that I just did not want to miss out on. The show would be a dose of Rock and Roll interesting from local opener to headliner as the young Rockers Stiletto would start it all up and be followed by The Wild Ones, Bad Dog Bad and the Black Angels NYC. Whew, this sounds like a lot to enjoy doesn’t it? To see the comprehensive show review just click the logo below to be brought over to the main PiercingMetal site and then by all means keep scrolling down this blog posting to enjoy some side images and video that I am only presenting to you here.

A Pale Horse Named Death in Concert (12/9/2011)

It was without question that The Metal Republic of the world gasped with despair upon the passing of Peter Steele because that meant there would be no more creative output from Type O Negative and unless some legacy bootlegs ever came up as releases the world would be closing the book on the band and finding them forever important in Metal history.  Over the last few years we have found some side projects with Type O members forming and even a new one with the bands former drummer Sal Abruscato that was called A Pale Horse Named Death.  That was the band we were seeing this evening at The Studio at Webster Hall and after hearing some of “A Hell Will Follow Me” I had to say that this was a band with just the right vibe for the Type O Negative fans.  To read the entire concert report and enjoy the photo galleries, just click the logo below to be taken over to that part of PiercingMetal.com; Then please continue down this blog posting to enjoy some of the side images that we like to present to our readership in this space alone.

Immolation in Concert (7/28/2010)

Immolation had decided to do a quick “one-off” show in NYC in preparation for their upcoming headlining tour which would find Vader in the direct support slot.  This show would be held at The Studio which is located beneath Webster Hall and the special appearance would bring along their label mates Arsis and the band Disma.  I had interest in all of the performers this evening so made sure to get there nice and early to be able to report on the whole event.  To see the full article and photos of each of the bands just click the bands logo below to be taken to our report on the main PiercingMetal.com site.

Immolation had some really cool shirts and other merchandise available for sale at the gig.  I snared myself one of the new designs with the new album cover since it was so foreboding.  The band was also at their booth before and after the show to sign stuff and to take photos.  They are always interested in their fans and really awesome dudes to meet.

The Immolation Merchandise

I’ve been fortunate enough to talk to the Immolation guys over the last couple of years and they are definitely awesome Brethren In Metal.  Here’s a shot of Bob, Ross, Pete and I just before the band took to the stage.  They were amused at how both Peter and I were sporting bald (almost) domes and gave kudos when they learned it was done for the Children’s Cancer Charity – St. Baldricks.
