Coming Soon: Summer Slaughter 2012

For the last couple of years I have taken a page out of my fellow bloggers books and used our PiercingMetal Musings Blog to speak up about the major happenings in The Metal Republics realm. It’s honestly been the perfect place to spark up some discussion with you readers about major concert tours or big package presentations that fall under the festival model. With that being said I now present to you the official poster for the Summer Slaughter Tour for 2012 and its roster of performers. Check it out.

The most interesting part about this particular tour is that it is bringing Cannibal Corpse as the main band with support from Between The Buried and Me, and each are two of Metal Blade Records most vital acts in terms of popularity. We’ll also get The Faceless, Periphery, Veil Of Maya, Job For A Cowboy, Exhumed, Goatwhore, and Cerebral Bore. The event will also features some special guest bands in each city so there might be some cool surprises in store for the attending Metalhead. Participating labels will be of course Metal Blade Records (who have five of the nine featured bands) along with Relapse Records, Sumerian Records and Earache Records. Some of these bands have appeared on the Summer Slaughter tours of the past as well but there are those who don’t mind that at all. While I generally like to see new things I am on the okay side with the ones who have been here before for the most part.

The tour dates were announced yesterday and our New York City region will find this tour landing at Irving Plaza on August 8th. Check your own local listings for where this will be if you plan on going and by all means get your tickets early enough to not be shut out. So tell me readers, does this tour excite you or leave you left for want? Speak up in the comments section, I would be interested in hearing what you have to say.

Decapitated in Concert (8/1/2010): Summer Slaughter 2010

The “Summer Slaughter” Tour is a yearly event that brings something of a festival environment to the indoor stages of venues around the country and it clocks in at a usual ten bands per gig for a relatively affordable price.  That means its a great way to absorb a wide variety of Metal and gives the listeners a lot to investigate when they get home.  This year’s event would be headlined by Decapitated who had direct support from both The Faceless and All Shall Perish.  The massive event also featured The Red Chord, Veil Of Maya, Decrepit Birth, Animals As Leaders, Carnifex, Cephalic Carnage and Vital Remains.  Whew.  This was surely going to be a lot to absorb so click the logo below to be taken to the main PiercingMetal.com site and the full report along with all of its photos.  Then come back and scroll down to see some other moments that are only shared in the blog leader for it.

Necrophagist & Summer Slaughter Tour (7/2009)

“Summer Slaughter” was back and hitting NYC once again like a proverbial ton of bricks and this time around they would split the massive tour into two separate shows to allow fans to either go to both nights or choose between the bands that they preferred more.  We opted for the first of the shows because it would feature Suffocation and a couple of other groups that we liked.  To be sure to present the whole night’s scope in the best manner we got to the venue early enough to catch all the performers.  To learn and see more just click the logo below to be brought to our article on the main PiercingMetal.com site.

Metal fans that have an interest in our views and photos from the previous year’s Summer Slaughter tour can relive the event by clicking HERE.  As expected we were sure to offer up commentary on every band and snapped photos of all of the performers as well – all ten bands.  That was a long, long night.

Before we close up, we wanted to share another graphic with you and that is for the tour program that the kind folks of Decibel Magazine had left around for us to enjoy.

It was mostly advertisements for the various labels and enterprises that were sponsoring the tour and that was to be expected.  However, there was also a little something about every band that performed on this tour and we also got photos of them.  That’s not a bad deal for free is it.
