Every once in awhile it’s a good idea to see something that is totally out of your field of expertise.  I maintain this view because I feel that this makes you a better rounded music fan and in the end someone who can truly compare the things that are interesting against that which is not so much.  We all know those folks who stick to one thing and one thing only and since I have never been that way, I like to indulge and challenge my senses for music appreciation whenever possible.  That being said when a publicity contact of mine asked me to come check out her clients band who were playing at Piano’s NYC I wasted no time in planning out the evenings fun.  The Perfects hail from Baltimore and are more of an Electronic Rock act and in some sense sound like classic The Cure and even some Duran Duran and I was intrigued since both of these groups were guilty pleasure of mine when I was an up and coming musician myself.  To read the full story and enjoy the photos just click the logo below to be taken to the main PiercingMetal.com site.  Then scroll down to enjoy some other items from the show.

The Perfects

After the show was done, the room quickly changed into an almost dance club as a pair of deejays setup their Apple computers and iPods along with a light effects machine.

Sorry I could not get any better photos but the lights were all over the place and there were lasers also.  It was just a mention to showcase how quickly a NYC venue can become something else.  Everyone had fun tonight for sure.   Tomorrow it would be back to the Metal business as usual but I was sure glad to have taken the side turn and I encourage you to do the same every now and again.  Don’t be one of those folks who always say that nothing interesting is happening and never braving the true musical heartbeat of the city you live in.  You will thank me later I am sure.

Face Of The Sun is a relatively new band in New York City’s underground music scene and they might be interesting to those fans of drummer Brian Viglione (who many might know from The Dresden Dolls).  I was directed to them by one of the many rising stars that I am fortunate enough to meet as a journalist and at her directive I made sure to be in place for the bands performance at Piano’s on the Lower East Side.  This is an intimate club when it comes down to it, and smack dab in the middle of a very active music and restaurant scene.  While I was down there I made sure to visit the relatively new Idle Hands bar and also down some tasty Mexican grub at San Loco.  Once the physical appetite and thirst were sated it was time to get the musical jones attended to by walking into Piano’s.  To read the full on concert report just click the bands logo below, as that will take you over to the article on the PiercingMetal.com website.  Then I urge you to keep on scrolling down the blog post to see some side images and even some video that are easily enjoyed here.  We hope that you like this.
