VampireFreaks.com Presents “Triton Fest 2013″

This is just a quick brief to showcase a little information about this years Triton Festival which is a Gothic and Industrial Music event being put out there by the creeptastic folks who go bump in the night – VampireFreaks.com – As many of my PiercingMetal readers enjoy the Industrial side of life almost as much (or even more so in some cases) than their Traditional Metal stuff I wanted to be sure to get this on your radar.

Banner - Triton Festival 2 - 2013

The event shall be held in NYC and for three days in September (5th, 6th, and 7th respectively), the assembled hordes of the VampireFreaks.com shall take over not one but two great venues. Yep. This event is going to be so massive that it will start at The Gramercy Theatre on Thursday and continue its second two nights over at Irving Plaza and bring its denizens darkly to its resounding finale. There are a score of bands performing across the three days and also plenty of DJ sets to keep you busy between the changeovers. The bands seem to keep getting added every time I hit the page. All of their page links and a little more about them can be observed on the Official Festival link below. Rather than duplicate their efforts I figured it best to just send you over there. The main site page is also the best place to get your hands on some tickets. It’s too early to know if I will be braving the Industrial storm at any point but if I do I shall surely share my findings with you on the site and blogs.

The Details : Killing Joke are a post-Punk band that was formed in the late 70’s according to their Wikipedia entry and interestingly enough have had a lot of influence upon the Industrial music scene. While I have never seen them in concert before, I have heard from many that they deliver the goods from the moment that they hit the stage and that makes me excited to announce that thanks to the folks at Livenation how PiercingMetal will be putting a few lucky readers into the show. Read on how to participate and where it’s all happening.

The Details: Back in 1993 the band Living Colour set the world aflame with their debut album “Vivid” and now on the 20th Anniversary of the album’s release they will be performing it in full along with other gems from their repertoire. When this album first hit, one could be assured of seeing the video for the opening track “Cult Of Personality” on MTV several times a day. While the music world was in throes of Grunge, the powerful sound of an all African-American Heavy Metal band was something to contend with thanks to the blistering riffs of Vernon Reid, vocal register of Corey Glover and break down the walls rhythm section of Muzz Skillings and William Calhoun. That being said, I’m excited to announce that thanks to the fine folks at Livenation, PiercingMetal shall be putting some fans into the NYC appearance. Read on below to learn how to participate.

The Details: The unlikely pairing of the century comes as Whitechapel joins forces with Emmure for the “Brothers In Brutality” Tour. I say unlikely since each of these bands seems to have a vastly different fan base but that doesn’t matter sometimes when it comes to dishing out a fistful of Metal. The interesting run will make a stop in New York City and bring along Unearth, Obey The Brave and The Plot In You for good measure and thanks to the fine folks at Livenation, some of the loyal PiercingMetal readers will be able to enjoy this event for free. Yes, I said free. What is better than that?

Steel Panther in Concert (7/18/2012)

I’m going to assume that all of my readers are up to date on what Steel Panther is all about because I’ve written about them three times over the past two years and two of those times have been less than six months ago. This band clearly has a lot of love for NYC and I cannot blame them since they manage to sell out each and every performance that they do. That being said, the readers can enjoy my full on concert report by clicking the logo below. It will take you over to the core PiercingMetal website where such objective concert reporting is dished out. Of course we then want you to return here to scroll through a bunch of images that are only presented in this location. I think you will enjoy it this time around more than the others.

Lamb of God in Concert (1/24/2012)

The inimitable Lamb of God was back in New York City and it’s been a couple of years since we have seen them here. The last time around they were the direct support for that little tour being held by the hardly ever heard about band called Metallica and that found them on the biggest stages that the Metal world could touch.  Tonight however would change the game for many fans as the band decided to go to smaller and more intimate venues to be more in tune with their kind of fans.  Irving Plaza comfortably holds around 1200 people and since LoG has sold out the Roseland Ballroom in hours you can imagine just how fast this show sold out.  The show would find The Acacia Strain and Too Late The Hero on the bill as well and I arrived to see just how the whole night would play out.  Check out the full coverage of the show by clicking the logo link below and then come back this way to scroll a little further down the blog posting to enjoy some side images that we are only presenting in this location.

Steel Panther in Concert (1/4/2012)

Welcome to 2012 everyone!!! Did anyone get the license plate number of the truck that 2011 ran us down in? Man was that fast. Well, now it’s time to get this 2012 stuff underway and start delivering the Metal madness in proper fashion. The first show I would be attending this year would be the inimitable Steel Panther who were making a return visit after just being around these parts in October of 2011. It’s always a lot of fun to check out their shenanigans and this time they would perform at Irving Plaza. Click on the logo below to be taken to the full concert report and all the photos I snared at the gig. Then keep on scrolling to enjoy some other stuff that was captured at the gig.

Lez Zeppelin in Concert (8/26/2011)

I’ve been enjoying the musical offerings of the ladies in Lez Zeppelin quite a bit this year and have managed to catch them under interesting circumstances each time.  My first foray into what they do came via the acoustic gig that was held at J&R Music World and the second was on one of those Rock and Roll Cruises. Tonight’s gig would really be my first chance to see them in a full on concert venue and despite the hurricane that was apparently heading in our direction and finding the city on pending lock down, I braved the night and heading out there to catch them. Here is how the show went for those who opted to remain inside.

The marquee at Irving is a little tricky to sometimes get properly. For this show I wanted to get the venue name and the bands, so I had to be a little clever. I think I managed.

Here’s another shot that focuses primarily on the bands name.

A Closer Look At The Musical Menu

Before the band came on we heard some Blues and this was the visual on the screen while it was playing. I thought it was pretty cool so I am sharing it with you all.

The band had some nice merchandise available for sale. Take a look at what they were offering their fans for a reasonable amount.
