PiercingMetal Goes To NY Comic Con 2012: Day 1; Part 1

Let’s get this party started shall we? Now, before I get into my many chapter posts about the 2012 NY Comic Con I want to tell you that it already has been a killer week for this reporter. All good things of course as we had a couple of concerts with Three Friends (doing their Gentle Giant set) and the mighty KISS performing at Live On Letterman in the famous Ed Sullivan Theater. This morning I hit a special Q&A session with KISS over at the Sirius XM Studios and of course all of those adventures will become posts as soon as I wrangle all the stuff together. Now it was time to get my butt in gear for the first part of Comic Con which was the Press/Professionals and VIP ticket holders day. This is the second year in a row that the fans mingled in with the Press and Pros as opposed to our kind being given a few hours of peace to observe and make notes about what we needed to see at the Con. The new model gets more fans into the room and now allows the event to span four days.

The New York Comic Con 2012 Is Coming Soon!!!

At the time that you are reading this post, it is only two weeks away…..  Can you believe it?  I know that it shocks me because it seemed like only yesterday that I was putting the final touches on the last chapter of my multiple part coverage of the 2011 New York Comic Con and that was one hell of an adventure to bring to you here on PiercingMetal Musings.  I’m especially excited because now that I have secured my Official Press Credentials to attend, I will be doing this for the third year in a row and I can hardly wait to see what is going to be in front of me over the course of those four days. Now I am wondering who is going to check it out this time from The Metal Republic?  Are you dressing up as anyone in particular?  Is there any one event that you are looking most forward to?  Well, whatever you will be doing just make sure that your calendar is clear on  October 14th through October 17th because that is when this year’s event will be taking over the Jacob Javits Center.

This year’s event proves to have some amazing guests which include Adam West and Burt Ward (the original sixties Batman series stars) and folks like Neal Adams and Robert Kirkman and many, many more. It’s  really too numerous to list actually but you can check out more via the link right below.  I decided to post this little two week to go blog posting to find out if any of our readers were going and to give a final reminder to those who still need to get tickets provided any full weekend passes remain.  If this is you then I suggest that you hurry because last year the full weekend passes sold out very quickly.   I would hate to know that despite our calendar of events having this listed well in advance that you somehow missed out by waiting until the last minute.   So get that overtime in now and save those coins because you are going to need them to spend on all the coolness that you will be finding at the Con this year.  I don’t have any insight as to how I will cover the event this year but I do think that I will mirror some of my past convention practices.  It was a blast sharing all of the costumed fans and fiends for you and while I always make note of the Metal t-shirts that I see around the convention, perhaps this time around I do a special feature to keep my postings different.  Only time will tell right?  See you then but now back to the regularly scheduled Metal programming.

PiercingMetal Goes To NY Comic Con 2011: Day 4; Part 3

Perhaps I should sound the trumpets because we have arrived at the final chapter installment of my comprehensive NY Comic Con 2011 coverage. I tried to get a LOT of photos for your perusal this time around as I know you like that kind of thing but I had to admit that even I didn’t think that I would end up with twelve different blog postings about it when it was all finished. So without any further adieu let’s get this party started.

PiercingMetal Goes To NY Comic Con 2011: Day 4; Part 1

Whew was all that I could say now that the Saturday session of the NY Comic Con was over.   There were tens upon tens of thousands of fans and professionals at the Javits Center yesterday and while I personally braved it alone, it was a mission accomplished.  Today I would again be joined by the presence of Skeleton Pete and we decided to mix and mingle our day to cover more ground.  So without any further adieu and with our wonderful press passes in hand – away we go…….

PiercingMetal Goes To NY Comic Con 2011: Day 3; Part 4

Wow. The Saturday session of NY Comic Con was surely proving to be a monster of a day with all the sights and things around me to capture for your perusal.  As many already know, the Saturday of Comic Con is the biggest of the events whole run of days and as I work my way through the fourth chapter about this day I will have to say that I agree.  It’s been said that sometimes the sheer crushing humanity that attends on this day surpasses the other days combined.  You might scoff at that but once you walk inside the Javits Center on this day you will likely be nodding your head about it.   So where were we?  Oh yes, we were now at the closing chapter of the Saturday fun and there were a lot of cool cosplayers to give a moment in the bright lights so let’s begin the adventuring with this booth babe all dolled up as Poison Ivy.

Hello again my Comic Book legions and welcome back to the in-depth coverage of the 2011 NY Comic Con that we have been delivering to you on the official blog for PiercingMetal.com; The adventures at this year’s Con seem to have been the biggest in our personal experience and that brings me to the next chapter and the wonderful images and people that we encountered. That being said, let’s get back to work on the travels as we first encounter a cool couple of DC Comics cosplayers with Power Girl and Plastic Man.  This was the second of each character that I remembered seeing as I wandered the massive halls.

PiercingMetal Goes To NY Comic Con 2011: Day 3; Part 2

Continuing along in our coverage of the NY Comic Con 2011 we are still focused on the happenings and sights that were found during the third day of the adventure. This is really the busiest of the days and if you took the preceding two days and tomorrow in terms of number it would still be less than the amount of people that come through the Javits Center on Saturday. That being said let’s get down to business…. (continue reading…)
