Anthrax & Testament in Concert (2/8/2012)

It has to be cool to be Anthrax right now because the band has clearly been riding a high for the last few months and was getting more attention than they had over the most recent years. The reunion with singer Joey Belladonna found the release of “Worship Music” as their next CD and the response to the album had been terrific. Many sources cited this as the best Metal album of the 2011 year in case you wondered. So after some amazing tours and that small, unknown and hardly discussed Big Four Tour, the band was doing a co-headlining run with the mighty Testament and bringing Death Angel along for the ride.  I wasn’t going to miss a moment of this exciting event, and you can check out all the details and concert photos by clicking the logo below.  Then I encourage you to scroll on down the blog posting to see some of the other items that caught my attention during the night.

Metallica/Slayer/Megadeth/Anthrax: The Big Four in Concert (9/14/2011)

No, you are not dreaming nor imagining things as it is indeed true that Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax were touring together under the branding of “The Big Four”. This massive event first took place in Europe and was captured for all eternity on a DVD for all the world to enjoy shortly after. At the time of this film’s release the anticipation was high about such a grouping coming to the USA. I mean they had to right? All of these bands are OUR BANDS after all…..USA Metal Product.  This was an amazing happening and bringing these legends of Thrash Metal to the same stage a feat of super human effort. It was surely a day to remember. Click the logo below to be taken to my full on concert report and some photos that were snared from afar, but then please make sure to check back on this blog posting because I have a lot of side images from the experience that I am only presenting here for your enjoyment.  I hope you like what you see as this was truly a monumental day or should I say “monu-Metal” day :p

Anthrax in Concert (9/12/2011)

New York City was set to receive a heaping dose of Metal that would be delivered with intensity by the one and only Anthrax. The band had just released their latest album “Worship Music” and while I’ve yet to review it on the site, I can say that this is probably the strongest that the band has sounded in years. Technically speaking this was a free show for those who purchased the album down at Best Buy as they were given a ticket for the event while the supplies lasted and they were calling themselves “Satan’s Lounge Band”. You can check out the full concert report by clicking the logo below and then please do come back to the blog posting as there are some additional images that I am only posting here.

Fozzy in Concert (4/2010)

Even though the band Fozzy featured WWE’s Chris Jericho, I had to admit that I was never really all that interested in them after hearing their covers album because it just didn’t impress me.   At that point in my Metal life, I was more focused on the up and coming Power Metal bands from Finland and all of their output since it was so energetic and unique.  I write this down based on the change of opinion that I had when the band released the “All That Remains” CD (not to be confused with the band of the same name) and now their latest effort “Chasing The Grail”.   With these recordings Fozzy has really shown to be coming into their own and an interesting Metal force to be reckoned with on their own.   Their show this evening would be live at B.B. King Blues Club and it would also feature the band Razer from Phoenix, AZ and Brooklyn’s own ZO2.    Photos and some commentary are presented for all of the acts and you can check that out by clicking the bands logo below.  It will bring you over to the article on the main PiercingMetal.com site.  We also recommend that you peruse further down this blog post to enjoy some additional candid moments and images that are only presented here from this very night.

PiercingMetal Artist Focus: Anthrax

Back in the early days of Thrash Metal, the guys in Anthrax were the hometown heroes to those Metal fans who lived in the New York area.  Formed in the Bronx, the guys were wild and their riffs insane on top of some knock you down drumming.  The UK might have given us the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal a few years earlier, but it was clear to many fans on this side of the fence that the USA was doing well at making a mark of its own.  During these formative years of my own Metal development, I had to admit that I preferred a lot more of the Anthrax stuff to that of Metallica and this surprised some of my friends but found me in kinship with those who felt the same way.  Eventually I found myself enthralled by the Tallica’s and Slayer’s but for the beginning it was NYC for me without question.

When PiercingMetal.com was launched it was very close to the time that the original or “staple” lineup of the band had reunited and once again reminded fans about why they were so enjoyed in Metal’s history.  We also began reviewing whatever releases came out at the time as soon as we got our hungry Metal hands on them.  Click the logo below to be taken to all of the Anthrax content on PiercingMetal.com and find yourself “Caught In A Mosh” once again.

Anthrax in Concert (2/2009)

Thrash Metal legends Anthrax performed a very brief set of music during the Red Bull Snowscrapers event that was held in early February 2009. We were on point in the bone-chilling cold to bring you the scoop. Click the logo to be brought to our item on the main PiercingMetal.com site.

We couldn’t resist showing you a photo of the Snow Scraper that was built for the snowboarders to go hurtling down.  This thing was about ten stories high and I had to be a fair distance back to be sure to get most of it in the shot.

They also had a smaller jump where the competition would take place and this is the best shot we were able to get of it based on the angle and where we were standing.  Sorry for not having any photos of the snowboarders.

Anthrax in Concert (6/3/2005)

The reunion of the classic lineup of NYC’s own Anthrax sent waves of positive energy across the Metal realm and they would be bringing their music to the Starland Ballroom as the closest show to the Big Apple. They said that this would be recorded for eventual DVD release, but there was no way that I was going to miss this. The site was now just two months old in a day from the actual gig and we were happy to be able to be part of the working press outlet. Check out the full report and lots of photos care of Nell by clicking the logo below. That will bring you over to the main PiercingMetal.com site. If you were at this show, please feel free to leave some comments below.
