The super-hero maven in me is still on a little bit of a high thanks to the couple of months ago release of “The Avengers” and it was during the previews that were shown before the film that film that I got a better glimpse of the now opening “Amazing Spider-Man”. I’ll admit to you that while I am pretty much a lifelong fan of the character (almost as long as Batman actually in terms of overall year), I am not crazy about the notion that this fourth Spider-Man film does not continue the characters tales and instead starts all over once again.
The first three films found Spidey duking it out with The Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, The Sandman, Venom and even a vengeance seeking Harry Osborn who was using Green Goblin tech to smite the web-spinner. The new film will pit him against The Lizard and in my humble opinion they did not need to start the whole thing from scratch to do that. Spider-Man is one of those heroes who has a wonderful rogues gallery and probably an equal one to that of Batman. They could have easily kept films going and going and interesting the audience without needing to go back to the beginning of the character. Oh well. I cannot say much more since I did not see an advance showing nor think that I will be getting to it right away. There are a couple of heavy hitter concerts on my immediate agenda and they take priority over stuff like this.
When I do see it, I guess I will offer up the blog readers a little review to add to the discussion but to avoid leaked plot lines, surprises and of course major spoilers, I have closed the comments for this posting. I surely don’t want anyone messing up the fun for me or anyone else.
