Monster Energy Presents “The Outbreak Tour” 2012

The summer might be coming to an end but that does not mean the tours have to do that. Here is the latest one that I received some press details about and I am sharing it with you all. Presenting the “Outbreak Tour” which is being presented by Monster Energy Drink and Idol Roc Entertainment. The tour is also in conjunction with Revolver Magazine, Metal Blade Records, Artery Records and more.

The event will bring Asking Alexandria to the headlining stage with As I Lay Dying as direct support along with Suicide Silence, Memphis May Fire and Attila. Metal fans recently saw a few of these bands on tour with groups like Slipknot and Slayer over the summer so it’s sure to be an exciting run of dates as they all branch out on their own tour. The event dates will be announced on September 7th and when they post them I will append this broadcast so you all know where this will be so you can make your plans.

Official Website: http://www.outbreaktour.com/

I’ll admit that I have personally not seen any of these bands in action on the concert stage so perhaps you are like me and can use a bit of an education in their work. As I have been doing over the last few months with posts of this kind, I am embedding in some Amazon.com codes for their music so you can check it all out and determine if you want to see the tour when it hits your region.

The Arena Club in Queens NYC Has Closed (8/24/2012)

THIS JUST IN!!!!

I observed this on someone’s Facebook page earlier today and am sharing the information with The Metal Republic because a number of the bands that I know around the scene have booked shows there and were looking forward to doing more. This apparently took place the other day so please read on.

“Attention all our ARENA QUEENS fans & friends: Due to circumstances beyond our control, the City Marshall has padlocked and shut down Arena. We have worked diligently with the Marshall & Landlord and tried everything in our power to keep the club open during this unfortunate process, but to no avail. This is not to say that we will not get the club back open at a future date at this location, or possibly another location, but for right now the doors are shut.

We thank all our fans and friends who have supported us over the last 7 months, our wonderful staff, all the bands, promoters, DJs etc that helped make this a great place to perform and hang out at! We will keep you posted, so watch this page for any future announcements regarding ARENA QUEENS!!!”

Official Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/ArenaQueens

Sadly I had not yet been out there for a show as the schedule did not allow it but it’s always terrible to see a promising space go away but such is the way we find the scene today. I imagine that any inquiries about this matter can be directed to the venue via their Facebook Page which I have linked above for your use.

Toxic Vision presents “Girls, Girls, Girls” (8/24/2012)

Interestingly enough, the last time that I saw designer Sharon Toxic showcasing her fantastic fashions was at one of the other “Big City Rebels” events that was put together by Samuel Valentine. As memory serves me this was also the event that I first caught the band Naked from Finland at along with the Vains Of Jenna (who are sadly no longer a group). I took the fashion show out of the concert review coverage and delivered it in a blog posting of its own since I felt it allowed for a little more special focus and you can revisit that posting HERE if you like.

Pencils Down; Joe Kubert Has Passed Away (8/12/2012)

And sadly another great one has left us. This afternoon the world lost the legendary artist Joe Kubert who has passed away at age 86. According to reports, the artist had been hospitalized for about a month. While I realize that this was not a musician who passed and would normally find me posting the notice in our “When The Music Died” category, it is without question that his artwork sang to all illustrators and was a veritable symphony of creative power.

Mr. Kubert was actually born in Poland, but his family moved to good old Brooklyn when he was only a few months old. He had been drawing since very, very young according to his Wikipedia entry but for me it was not until he began working on DC Comics titles that I learned of his mastery. Kubert is most notable for his work on Sgt. Rock, Hawkman and The Haunted Tank. He also created the enigmatic Ragman with Robert Kanigher. I really enjoyed that strange hero and still have all the original issues in my collection. He had a thrilling character called Tor which was set in primitive times and even had a hand in The Viking Prince title for awhile. It was great stuff for sure. Joe Kubert was not only famous for working on these characters, but also for starting The Kubert School and for being the father of Adam and Andy Kubert who are both very popular artists in their own right.

As a lifelong comic book fan, we want to send sympathy and condolences to his family, friends and worldwide fans. Thank you Joe for everything you gave to us. Fans might want to hit up Amazon.com to see what they can find in terms of compiled works. I know that there are several dedicated to Kubert’s art and characters.

Otherwise in Concert (8/9/2012)

I was very new to the band Otherwise and was supposed to catch them as an opener for Lacuna Coil but due to an unfortunate circumstance the day of the show this was not meant to be.  Despite this hiccup I would instead be the only member of press in attendance at a private preview of their material when the guys dropped by the EMI Music Publishing offices.   For those who might not know this little fact, all the Century Media Records and Nuclear Blast Records are distributed by EMI.  This was cool for sure but I needed to see the band live and in the electrified sense because that is what they are all about.  Lucky for me they had set up a show over at The Studio at Webster Hall and brought along Red Line Chemistry and Janus as support.  There were a couple of other bands on the bill but I was not able to enjoy them based on the timing of the night.  Studio gigs tend to start as early as 6pm, and there was no way that I could get to that.  Clicking the logo below will take you over to the full concert review and photo galleries but then do come back to the blog posting as I have some side moments and visuals that are only being presented in this space.

PiercingMetal & Social Networking: About.Me

Alright, now this next one is not as much of a Social Network as it is a means to put up a signpost that will show off how people can network with you socially. Does that make any sense? I found this one while clicking around in Foodspotting and was reading the profile page of one of my contacts. I was directed to this medium and thought it to be very interesting, depending on just how much you actually want to put out there. Since I have a few different interests and spaces online that direct you to my adventures in music reporting or photography, I felt that I should examine it a little deeper.

With this being in mind I did a test run of this resource with an account for myself and used my real name as opposed to the pen name of Piercing Ken or my PiercingMetal brand identity and listed my WordPress Blogs for PiercingMetal, my site Twitter and Instagram accounts first. You have a score of options to choose from and right off the bat for me there is stuff in those networks that I want people to find and hopefully enjoy the most. I opted to NOT add my personal Facebook Page and instead chose to add the two Official Facebook Pages that I maintain for each of my websites. Like many friends of mine, I am becoming a lot more strict on who I want accessing my personal happenings but if it is the media stuff that you enjoy then by all means hit up our official pages. You appear to be able to add a Google+ account along with a Tumblr and while I have these I essentially repeat many postings that you see on Facebook in those mediums. There are Last FM and Reverbnation accounts for the website, but each are used sparingly. Check out the graphic below to see the menu. Pardon the grayed out ones, this is from my profile and hence the ones I am using.

When I compiled my apps I was surprised to learn of two new Social Networks that I had not yet explored but they really don’t seem like ones I will tinker with anyway in all honesty. I am speaking of both Smarterer and Trippy and since I didn’t see how I would employ them as a media person you shall NOT be seeing overviews in this little set of observations any time soon. They had something related to food and drink called “Forkly” but I am a die hard Foodspotting dude now and shall stick by them. This looked exactly the same as far as interface went. Since I run the main PiercingMetal.com and PiercingKen.com websites I used the option to add the two links so perhaps if you have any number of domains under your command that you should do the same thing for good measure. They offer the ability to find ones friends but this is where I ran into an issue. I clicked “Find Your Friends” and while it worked on finding a couple of my Twitter connections, it took forever and then failed on my attempts to import the contacts on both Gmail.com and AOL.com. There is also a means to use your Yahoo.com email but I do not use that account at this point in my life. Its a redirect for me like Hotmail.com is. I didn’t get an error message – it just failed on me. So much for that. I guess anyone who searches for my name on this can find me with little incident or just CLICK THIS since they are right here already :)

So what made me add this to our little rundown of Social Networking sites and the like? Well, considering this resource amounts to a signpost of what you have going on in the online world, I felt that it helps you reach new people that might be of like mind or reconnect with friends who might be out there as well. Depending on what you want to share you can post it on this page and let yourself be found. You can even toss in a brief bio to cover all the bases. They seem to have the chance to get some business cards with this information on them but I already have a ton of cards with my branding already and I don’t post any of my social networks on them since it is secondary to what I am doing out there. You might feel different and that is alright with me. The link below brings you to the service so give it a whirl and if you add us to your favorites we hope that you click our links and find out more about what we are doing. Have fun.
