The Winners Of The 2013 Revolver Golden Gods Awards Are…
Hey so the other night we had the Revolver Golden Gods awards happening out in California at the Club Nokia and like all awards shows this features a lot of patting on the backs, speeches and special performances but of course this one is focused on the Metal greats. It is here that fans get the chance to hear what keeps the nominees and hopeful winners inspired and as Metal as possible and they are chosen by the readers via a several month tallied poll. I generally post the poll for you all to participate but am not sure I did it for this go round. Sorry, I get busy over here at the Command HQ and neglect a thing or two every now and again. Anyways, that being said I saw a few clips online but did not manage to find time and sit through the whole show. Considering I was not there to enjoy it in person and that there was much toasting and celebrating Slayer’s Jeff Hanneman, I felt watching on television would not be as cool as being there. Despite that, I figured that our readers might want to see who won what award so here now the list.
The winners were all posted up and I copied the list directly from the Revolver Magazine page for your easier digestion. Take a look……we can discuss afterward.
• “Album of the Year” (presented by Orange Amplification): Deftones, “Koi No Yokan”
• “Best Guitarist” (presented by Epiphone): John 5, of Rob Zombie
• “Best Drummer” (presented by Drum Workshop): Arejay Hale, of Halestorm
• “Paul Gray Best Bassist” (presented by Dean Markley): Lemmy Kilmister, of Motörhead
• “Best Vocalist” (presented by Rockstar Energy Drink): Corey Taylor, of Slipknot and Stone Sour
• “Song of the Year” (presented by Affliction): Black Veil Brides, “In The End”
• “Best Live Band” (presented by Samson): Slipknot
• “Best New Talent” (presented by Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival): Device
• “Most Metal Athlete” (presented by Roadrunner Records): Triple H
• “Comeback of the Year” (presented by Eagle Rock): Tenacious D
• “Most Dedicated Fans” (presented by Xbox LIVE): HIM
So without trying to offend anyone, I am really not too keen on this list of winners because I have been around the Metal block a lot these last few years and just think that there are so many more extraordinary things happening out there that seem to have been overlooked. Oh well. For some I guess this winning list kicks major ass but for me it just doesn’t outside of a couple of them. I’ll let you try to figured out who I was 100% behind on your own time. Now tell me what you all thought. I would so love to hear your own opinions on this stuff. The comments are open.

Presenting The “Gigantour 2013″ Dates & Lineup
In keeping with my practice of broadcasting the occasional big touring event I wanted to direct our readers attention to the recently announced “Gigantour 2013″ which many know as being the concert series that is masterminded by Dave Mustaine and his merry mates in Megadeth. Black Sabbath’s Full US Tour Itinerary Is Revealed
Attention My Metal Republic. This is a PiercingMetal PSA. It seems as though there is this little band that goes by the name of Black Sabbath and not only are they releasing a brand new album after so many years of not having done so, but they are also embarking on a massive tour to support it and to deliver their greatest hits at the very same time. Considering that they are new to the Metal mix it is imperative that we all rally together and support this run of dates because without the new bands how will the genre continue to thrive and prosper…..oh wait a minute. I messed up my notes somehow and have gotten a little confused…..Black Sabbath are not new at all and as a matter of fact are the reason that we have this Metal stuff in the first place. The true facts are that a new album is indeed coming and that a tour is coming to our neck of the woods and its a reason to be excited because its a chance to see Ozzy, Geezer and Tony working together again making new Metal for the masses. The press release comes after the photo.
Lineup For Rockstar Energy’s “Uproar Festival 2013″ Revealed
As you might have already surmised, we love going to shows over here at the PiercingMetal Command HQ and as result I will periodically showcase a bit of press that happened to come across my desk regarding any massive touring packages. That being said, the lineup for this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink “Uproar Festival” have been revealed and will play out as follows: Alice In Chains, Jane’s Addiction, Coheed and Cambria along with Circa Survive will be performing on the Rockstar Energy Main Stage while the Ernie Ball Festival Stage will host Walking Papers (featuring Duff McKagan), Middle Class Rut, New Politics, Danko Jones, Chuck Shaffer Picture Show and the local Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands winner in each market..whew that sounds like a lot of fun. Historically speaking I have never before seen Alice In Chains but know for sure just how good Jane’s Addiction and Coheed and Cambria are live so that sounds like a blast for me. As far as the smaller stage, well I only know of Danko Jones and everyone else will be a new experience to my concert going ear. Tickets are on sale beginning tomorrow and I’ve set up this posting in such a way that by clicking the poster below, you will be brought to the means to snare as many as you choose to.

Announcing Rock Fantasy’s Grand Re-Opening: 4/20-4/21/2013
A few years ago, I was a writing contributor to the late great Metal Edge magazine in addition to running the PiercingMetal site and one of the assignments that I was tasked with during this time was to find a “Metal Mecca” for a feature article. “Metal Meccas” focused on specialty shops that were dedicated to the Heavy Metal music scene and its products and I could think of no better place than Steve Keeler’s Rock Fantasy Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Specialty Shop up in Middletown, NY. New readers to our offerings can enjoy that piece by clicking HERE.
The 2013 New England Metal & Hardcore Fest Is Around The Corner…
It’s almost here so who is heading up to Paladium in Worchester, MA for three days of mind-crushing Heavy Metal and Hardcore music for this years NEMF? At the point of this posting it is only ten days away so start that timer and make sure you are packed with all you need since you are running out of time if you are going.
The Lineup For Scion Rock Fest 2013 Is Fully Revealed!
You readers already know how much I love sharing the cool musical freebies that the folks at Scion A/V keep dishing out and with that being the case I wanted to take a moment to showcase the full lineup and poster from their annual Rock Fest. The information was just released that the mighty Testament will co-headline the show with The Melvins and if that is not an interesting pairing I don’t know what is.
As you can see by the poster there are a LOT of interesting and amazing bands playing together at this thing, and just in case your eyes are getting like my own here is the full on rundown of the performers: Testament. Melvins. Municipal Waste, Whitechapel, The Obsessed, Corrosion Of Conformity, The Casualties, Negative Approach, Pallbearer, Six Feet Under, Impaled, Vision Of Disorder, Royal Thunder, Vektor, Arsis, A Life Once Lost, Touche Amore, Code Orange Kids, The Gates Of Slumber, Hot Lunch, Rotting Out, The Shrine, Ice Dragon, Call Of The Void, Subrosa, Gigan, ANCIIENTS, Dirty Streets, Inter Arma, Complete Failure, Indian Handcrafts and Noisem…..whew. A little of everything that is for sure.
The other thing our readers know about my postings and I is that we love hitting the Metal shows. It’s almost an addiction at this point in some sense but this particular event will be taking place in Memphis, TN so I don’t really think that I will be there. It surely sounds like fun, but its a little tricky to figure out personally at this time. Maybe something will change my mind and I will head down South for some good old Metal and definitely some regional tourism because I have a lot of time to decide with this affair being in June
. If we go, you can count on some review stuff, and if not, I am sure there will be tons across the web for everyone to enjoy.
