PiercingMetal Says

Get Ready For Wizardworld NYC Experience!!!

I’ve known about this event for a couple of months already but never took a moment to make sure that it was on our readers radar. With our having covered the last few years of the NY Comic Con, I wondered how many fans were thinking about hitting this event. Take a look at a great way to spend your Summer on June 28th, 29th, and 30th…..

“6-6-6″ The Number Of The Ticket Freebies!!!

And now a shameless plug :)

Image - 666

There’s not really much else to say about this other than at this point in time, PiercingMetal.com has given away a grand total of six hundred sixty six tickets and since it’s always viewed as being a very Metal number in addition to a rather evil one, I thought it would be amusing to share that little tidbit with you readers. Longtime site fans probably already know that PiercingMetal has been holding concert ticket giveaways since around 2009, but it was not until the middle of 2011 that this stuff started to be a lot more often and find the benefits coming from numerous providers and promoters. In addition to this particular Metal milestone number, the recent Fear Factory contest was the 100th one that had been offered up to the Metal Legions.

Special thanks to all of our providers for their belief in the effectiveness of the PiercingMetal brand. I look forward to continuing this great association to support the Metal scene and its fans with greater zeal. Remember readers that these contests are exclusive to the Official Blog for PiercingMetal, but you might want to give a “like” to our Facebook and follow our Twitter so you are in the loop about the upcoming awesomeness.

It’s Record Store Day Today (4/20/2013)

Logo - RSD 2013

It’s that time of year once again when music fans of all types head out to the area record shops in search of trinkets and limited time only special editions from their favorite bands. Even though I’ve long ago become a CD only type of music fan, I still have a healthy number of my old records and fondly remember the pleasure that they gave to me while playing them. Of course a lot of my friends and site readers are still avid fans and go exploring on a day like today so I’ve made sure to set this little reminder up for their edification.

The site below brings you to the official page for Record Store Day and its here that you can no only search for items that are interesting to you and this year you can even download an App for your iPhone or Droid device. The links for that is right on the main page so be sure to do it. One of the things that sometimes takes place on Record Store Day are special live musical performances or just appearances so you might want to keep an eye out for those as well. Depending on what I find happening in my Metropolis and how it relates to a heavier side of music I might just end up with more writing to do. That is never a bad thing at the end of the day. So I wish all of you LP explorers a good find today and hope you have a blast.

PiercingMetal Is Eight Years Old Today (4/4/2013)

Whew. Is it here already? Well I guess that it is my friends because today was the day eight years ago that I unleashed PiercingMetal.com onto the general Metal populace of the realm and what an exciting time it has been so far. I’ll have to admit that I’ve started off my music scribe year by doing mostly blog postings based on the amount of “different stuff” for me to get into your line of site but not to worry I will be returning to conventional review practices in the coming weeks to sate that side of your musical hunger. New readers might wonder what we are up to and with the blogs, regional event calendar updates en masse and now the regular calling in to The Heavy Metal Mayhem Radio Show, I’ve been a bit consumed and holding back from traditional review. Stay tuned though because I have a few dozen surprises to get to you as I mentioned. Now let’s enjoy some visuals of eight. Since its a birthday in some sense, a candle was very appropriate.

Bring On The March Metal Madness \m/

Outside of referencing the term for shows or events that I have gone to during the month of March, I’ve never really called all that much attention to “March Metal Madness”……and maybe that is due for a change. What I will do is call your attention to all of the free Metal music that was given some attention on both the core website and our blog which you are reading this post in, and hope that you will take advantage of them all and perhaps even share what you find with your friends.

Based on the way my conventional reviews site searches, I have collected all of the links that were for free sampler releases and these are awesome since all you do is access them from the review. They would be on Amazon.com MP3 service but you can download them to the Cloud Player they have or even for use in your iTunes if you like. I wish there was more to present to you but its still more than 50 songs right now which is not a bad thing. Next year there will be more.

Reviews Leading To Free Metal: HERE

Then there are all those amazing EP’s that you sometimes finds me broadcasting here on the blog that come from the fine folks at Scion A/V. By my count they have done a lot more of them than I have spoken about and you can access the ones we liked the most by clicking the link below. I will admit that I don’t know if any of the EP’s have expired and been removed to make room for new ones but once you are on the site you should search around for what I don’t have listed.

Blog Posts For Free Metal c/o Scion A/V: HERE

Keep watching the Official Facebook for PiercingMetal for all the month’s adventures and more and by all means be the best Metalhead you can be during this month especially. Support the scene and its Media allies since there are some good ones out there. We’ll be doing our best to keep you entertained as often as possible. Special thanks to our good buddy Skeleton Pete for the cool graphic.

Scion A/V sez Shut Off The Light & Enjoy “Pitch Black” by Meshuggah

I’ve been trying to keep on top of when Scion A/V dishes out some free downloadable Metal for the masses and so far I’ve directed readers to these offerings with about a handful of postings right here on the PiercingMetal Blog. It’s been great to find them calling our attention to free music by Immolation, Enslaved, The Melvins, Arsis and Wormrot. Let’s face it, the economy sucks and prices are still going up so why not indulge in something free whenever it is possible. That being said the next free EP from Scion A/V gives the mighty Meshuggah a go round by giving fans two unreleased tracks by the band. Okay so perhaps two tracks seems kind of a bummer, but its still free and its still Meshuggah and most of that bands fans will take anything that they can get from them. The first track is a studio cut called, of all things, “Pitch Black” (hence the name of the EP) and its pretty solid and representative of what we expect from the group. The second cut is “Dancers To A Discordant System” which is recorded live. This track originally hails from the bands 2008 release “Obzen”. Clicking the album cover below will take you over to Scion A/V where you can download these tunes legally. How cool is that.

Good Luck To Randy Blythe…….

Earlier today, Lamb Of Gods singer Randy Blythe returned to the Czech Republic to stand trial for manslaughter charges which are based on the death of one of their fans (Daniel Nosek) who passed away after injuries suffered during a Prague concert by the band just over two years ago.

lambofgod_012412_01

So much has already been discussed about the event and sad inevitability of it all so I’ll just share a photo of Randy doing one of the things he does best (the other is photography) and wish him the very best of luck during this truly hellish experience. According to some news posts I have read since the singers arrival in the Czech Republic, the trial is already underway and they are expecting a verdict as early as Friday. This seems kind of quick, but then again I am comparing our own justice system to that of a foreign land. As a fan of Lamb Of God I hope for a positive outcome for the singer but still feel much sadness for the family who lost their son. I feel Randy is an innocent man, and that fans should not be on the stage in any sense but they get up there anyway and sometimes get hurt. This is one of the outcomes. It sucks no matter how you look at it. Good luck Randy. The Metal World is behind you at this time.

Positive Thoughts From One Of Our Stomping Grounds…

While adventuring in NYC just the other day, I happened by one of my usual Music Journalist haunts, the venerated Times Square venue known as B.B. King Blues Club and Grill. It seemed as though they had a message for the NYC passerby and I could not resist sharing it with all of our readers as we begin a brand new month of concert coverages. What a positive note from this fun place.

“Have A Nice Day NYC”

Longtime readers of the PiercingMetal site know full well about our adventures here but the newer ones might find it interesting to learn that over the last eight years we have attended over 175 Hard Rock and Metal shows at the venue. Curious Metal fans can read all about those shows by clicking that photo if they like. I’ve lost count about how many individual groups had been photographed since many of these shows had three and four bands per bill. As we’ve likely awakened your own personal concert craving, I pasted the venues link and our own regional events calendar for you to be in the loop at all times.
